It's been a busy morning already. Myself, Quinn, Mavis and the CPO (Chief Pooping Officer - see picture) had the good fortune of meeting with our mentor and friend Barry Bernhard. Barry is currently the chair for TEC Canada Manitoba branch , an organization that brings CEOs from different companies together to discuss their issues with piers and get experienced feedback. As a company we are looking at different expansion opportunities through North America and it's invaluable to have someone like Barry to bounce ideas off of. Thanks Barry!
This would be Cash Holtslag, the CPO and succession plan as Mavis calls him. It's been interesting running a household including two dogs and a business with this little 6 monther directing traffic around the house. We're very lucky, he's super easy going with having to watch mom work on her laptop all day, having to participate in meetings and with having the dogs sneak in face licks whenever they can. According to Cash, it's all good. This picture was taken by our good friend Kal Barteski of iDeaMonsters and Love Life. Very inspiring and seriously artistic individual. Pretty talented huh? She's responsible for the look of our packaging and the look of the blog. THANKS KAL!
How's the food coming? Speaking of good food, eggs are good food. We use a LOT of eggs in all Lucky Dog Biscuits. They're a fantastic source of protein and fat. The yolk contains most of the fat and nutrients such as vitamin E, biotin and lutein. lutein is important for good eye health. Biotin is important for healthy skin and coat and also helps the dog metabolize the other nutrients. And of course the eggshell is an excellent source of calcium. If you feed a kibble and want to add extra nutrients, you could add scrambled eggs.
You could also add Tripe to your dog's diet. I mentioned Tripe before in response to Shayla's question regarding other options to pig's ears. Tripe has great stuff like essential fatty acids and very important amino acids called taurine. Taurine is available in all meat sources and eggs but has recently been thought to me missing in required quantities from kibbled food. Not a huge surprise since there isn't much meat protein in some brands of kibble. By adding Tripe or even beef heart (beef heart is also very high in taurine) they'll get that extra bit necessary to protect them from dilated cardiomyopathy (heart disease). Now a word of caution. I have been told that cooking the raw tripe patties in your dog food smells pretty revolting. You can buy raw tripe in frozen patties or canned tripe. Both are great but just add them to their food after it's been cooked.
I think I'm off to the Zoo today. Not sure. Either way, its beautiful around he here so we're going to get out and enjoy it.
